Newborn Girl Photo Shoot from Jacksonville

*Trigger Warning: Article about Miscarriage and Infant Loss

I recently had a baby girl come into my St. Augustine FL photo studio with a gorgeous smile and lots of personality… she was also a very special rainbow that helped her parents find solace after a heartbreaking storm. Her sister, Evelyn, was lost but is still very much remembered and celebrated in this Little Rainbow’s family. It is actually a very common story and one that I’ve had almost 90% of my families come and tell me when they come in to tour my studio this past month. When I was younger I made the assumption that getting pregnant was a total cinch, when my husband and I wanted to get pregnant it would would be a few months and BOOM, baby! Unfortunately, that wasn’t exactly how it happened for us (it was more like a year until I got a positive test) and it became more stressful than we had originally thought. Now, almost 10 years later, I realize how fortunate we were to avoid the loss of a baby and not have to navigate the waters of IVF. Although talking about miscarriage and “rainbow babies” can still be seen as taboo, it IS more widely accepted to talk about and I am always here to listen to moms and their pregnancy journeys. Many women go through multiple pregnancies and multiple losses before they are able to hold their beautiful baby, and it can be a very emotional and even traumatizing road to get there. Because so many families experience this loss, I have a series of props, backgrounds, and studio set ups that help the family celebrate their new baby while also remembering and incorporating their babies who weren’t able to make it home. If you are one of the many families who have experienced loss like this, please let me know during our consultation before your session so I can do something special to commemorate your journey and to reassure you that you are not alone. Your session can bring on sudden and strong emotions as you watch your beautiful newborn having their pictures taken and remembering your other sweet baby, and it’s ok to have your moments and to take a minute to sit and cry together, to pray, or to talk about your experience. My studio is a place for you and your family to feel loved, supported, and safe to share your story. I base my business on the philosophy that when you come to me you are like family and I treat you as such, I am always here to help and support you in whatever way you need most.

Let’s talk soon,

Amanda
